We are Policy Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit policy advocacy organization committed to reshaping the criminal justice system into one that is fair, equitable, and accessible. We focus on reforms that eliminate outdated and punitive laws disproportionately affecting marginalized communities, advocating for policies that foster rehabilitation and respect for all individuals.

What You will Need to Bring

Participants should bring any relevant legal documents that pertain to their criminal records and any other materials they believe would be beneficial for review by legal professionals during the event. A valid ID is required as well.

We will be working with our partners to facilitate your applications for either the sealing of your record according to the new legislation or a completed application for a certificate of relief.

Why Attend?

This town hall offers an invaluable opportunity for formerly incarcerated individuals to begin applying for relief under the Clean Slate Act and Certificates of Relief from Disabilities. Our team, including skilled lawyers and various advocacy groups, will be available to offer guidance and support. By attending, you also contribute to a larger movement towards a more just and inclusive society.

We will collect contact information from attendees to continue communication and provide further support post-event. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to ensure successful reintegration and community empowerment.

Clean Slate Eligibility

A person is eligible for relief under Clean Slate when:
  • They have completed a three-year waiting period for misdemeanor convictions and eight-year waiting period for felony convictions, not counting time served in prison.
  • They have completed probation or parole.
  • They have no pending charges.
  • Sex offenses Class A felonies, except for drug-related convictions, are not eligible for sealing under the Clean Slate Act.
